A Future tender for the Consolidation of the Bighi Foreshore and Walls and Restoration of the overlying Bastion Walls

The scope of this tender includes the stabilization and consolidation of the rock faces at the Bighi foreshore through the installation of rock anchors, shotcrete, and high-tensile stainless-steel mesh. Once the foreshore is secured, the fortification walls’ foundations will be reinforced by installing a structural beam at the toe of the walls and anchors for additional support. Further consolidation will be achieved by strategically placing anchors within the walls. Following these structural interventions, the masonry walls will undergo cleaning and restoration using locally sourced limestone to preserve their historical integrity. Key Works Included in the Contract include, but is not limited to, the following principal tasks: a) Procurement & Preparation &Mobilisation a. Sourcing and acquisition of all necessary plant, equipment, and materials. b. Mobilization to the site and erection of scaffolding along the entire stretch of the bastion walls. c. Laying out of temporary access passage around the foreshore and the gardens. b) Foreshore Stabilization & Reinforcement a. Installation of rock anchors and micropiles to stabilise the rockfaces. b. Application of high-tensile stainless-steel mesh and shotcrete to consolidate highly weathered and fractured rock formations. c) Fortification Wall Reinforcement a. Installation of a reinforced concrete beam at the base of the walls to enhance foundation stability. b. Securing the beam with deep-set anchors for long-term structural integrity. c. Additional anchoring at key locations along the wall face. d. Installation of a reinforced concrete beam at the crest of the walls to stabilise the walls. e. Additional installation of anchors and micropiles to stop existing movement on the walls. d) Restoration & Finishing Works a. Careful cleaning and restoration of the masonry walls using traditional techniques and locally sourced limestone. b. Cleaning and reinstatement of the foreshore to its original state, ensuring minimal environmental and historical impact.
