Skien municipality intends to enter into a contract with moveART for the execution of detailed engineering design services and the delivery of the activity sculpture Vingen at Bakkestranda in Skien. moveART is a Swiss company founded in 2015 that delivers urban furniture and play apparatuses. The activity sculpture shall be constructed in accoya. It is a form stabilised treated wood and has minimal movement that prevents cracking and warping. The material does not tile and is maintenance free, with a rot guarantee of 25 years. The sculpture ́s provisional dimensions are length 10-15 and height up to 2.7 metres. The activity sculpture shall be built up with slats, accredited by C2C and FSC, sustainability class 1. The slats are 45 mm thick, in lengths from 20 cm to 700 cm and rounded at the ends to a radius of 22.5 mm. The slats are convex and concave respectively, shifted with bolts to create space for gliding, climbing and balancing in the middle and sloping planes, as well as at least 2 nearly horizontal seats. Several steel supports are to be placed under the right part of the object to support the structure. The assembly and fixing material is made of chrome-nickel steel, A2 stainless steel. The sculpture shall be anchored with 5 points, which shall be bolted to the existing foundation. Different heights: max. 3,000 mm, different widths: max. 12,000 mm, depth: 75,000 mm. Weight 3,500 kg. To ensure the desired expression of the sculpture, it shall be treated with CerPlus, which will keep the wood colour longer. The detailed engineering design and execution of the activity sculpture will be carried out in accordance with the European safety standard for playground equipment (regulation EN1176). The Norwegian playground regulations shall be complied with. Conclusion moveART specialises in detailed engineering design services for and the delivery of tailor made objects built up by slats in accoya. They have developed a concept for their sculptures based on the double helix (DNA), which forms the basis for both the technical building and the actual expression the sculpture shall have. moveART has competence and experience in regard to product development and planning of activity sculptures. Such competence is important, as the activity sculpture is a major whole of initiatives in the same area. Safety shall be taken care of closely and the tenderer has broad experience with complying with the European safety standard for playground equipment. As regards the expression that the activity sculpture shall have, requirements for engineering design, safety and experience with this type of activity sculptures, we believe that moveART is the only supplier who can deliver detailed engineering design services and activity sculpture on Bakkestranda. If the contracting authority does not receive objections by 29.08.2024, a contract will be signed with MoveArt GmbH.
