Competence raising within special language training.

P01 - The school shall enter into a contract for assistance with raising competence within the topics of language training. There has been inspections from the government manager and routines were prepared for special language training in Drammen municipality ́s quality system. A need for competence raising has been identified for school managers, resource persons and teachers in connection with the implementation of a new routine. The Norwegian Directorate of Education and Training ́s mapping tool in basic Norwegian is designed as a support for teachers in order, among other things, to determine whether pupils require special language training and when pupils are ready to go into regular training. Most people need guidance and competence raising to use the tool, and that is the goal for this competence raising. Content of the competence raising: 1. Anchoring in the school management. Take care of new routines and facilitate development for each school.2. Network with competence raising resource persons from all schools in the municipality. Focus on: Norwegian as a second language. Methods and strategies that are used to further develop the training in Norwegian as a second language. Multilingualism as a resource. Mapping, assessing and following-up pupils ́ development and progression (adapted training) The National Centre for Multicultural Training (NAFO) at the Oslo Met, has an obligation to assist municipalities with such competence raising. NAFO has general competence and long experience in the discipline. They also have broad knowledge of the professional environments and coordinate national networks and development projects. NAFO is one of 11 national centres that has a key task in developing the quality of education in different areas. The advantage for the municipality by using NAFO is that the municipality has an actor to deal with that covers the entire discipline. This gives an overall approach and continuity of work.
