The Defence Forces (DF) operates in an increasingly complex and technologically advanced global security environment. To remain effective, resilient and agile in fulfilling national and international obligations there is an urgent and strategic need for professional Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services. Modern military operations demand robust secure and integrated ICT infrastructure to support intelligence, logistics, communications and command and control functions, as well as day-to day operations. Future forecasting has identified the requirement(s) for specialised expertise and scalability in order to respond to the evolving Defence Forces network, as well as Cyber threats, software advancements, and interoperability standards with partner nations. Professional ICT Services offer access to cutting-edge technologies, cyber security solutions and 24/7 support structures. These services can enhance operational readiness, streamline administrative processes, and ensure compliance with national and EU data protection and defence policies. Additionally, outsourcing select ICT functions allows Defence Forces personnel to focus on core military tasks while ensuring that critical systems are maintained and future-proofed by industry experts. As military and civil systems are becoming increasingly interdependent, professional ICT services have been identified as an essential requirement going forward, enabling strategic, operational and tactical capabilities. Some of the key areas that the DF will seek to complement out existing ICT structure will be in the areas of Virtualisation specialists, Computer Security Incident Response Specialist, Mail Administrator, Network Support Engineer/Administrator (Data), Senior Network Engineer, Senior Telecoms Engineer, Sharepoint Specialist, SQL Specialist and Service Desk Level 2 Engineer. ICT Services will need to be provide in a variety of locations namely McKee Bks Dublin, Baldonnel Airbase Dublin and Naval Service in Cork.
