An electric motor-generator setup is to be commissioned for the Fraunhofer IGP site in Warnemünde, which will function as a test bench component. In this setup, two identical electric motors will be interconnected, with one motor functioning as a conventional electric motor and the other as a generator. This setup will be used to simulate application-oriented load profiles from the shipping industry. The electric motor (approx. 500 kW) will absorb the electrical energy from a modular energy converter system (battery + fuel cell) and convert it into mechanical drive energy. This drive energy will be transferred to an identical generator connected via a coupling and measuring shaft system. The generator supplies the energy in electrical form to an energy distribution rail (which already contains a DC/AC inverter).
