A tender contest will not be held. The Norwegian Veterinary Institute relies on gene testing of Stamfisk taken from nature in working with a gene bank for endangered tribes salmon fish on behalf of the Norwegian Environment Agency. The most central analysis is a test for farming genetic origin as it is imposed by the Norwegian Environment Agency that all the pedigree fish used shall go through this analysis. NINA has developed an analytical method that allows each individual to estimate the probability of farming genetic origin (Karlsson etc. 2014). NINA is, according to our knowledge, the only research institute that has implemented this method and who has the necessary reference data of farming and villaks in order to carry out the analysis.
