The analysing instrument Maldi Tof (an analysis instrument for the identification of microorganisms) shall be procured for the new hospital in Drammen. Description of desired function: Analysis instrument for quick and accurate identification of bacteria by using Maldi Tof technology (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization - Time of Flight). The equipment shall be used to identify microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) with the help of the microorganisms' unique protein ranges. The equipment shall use updated taxonomy for microorganisms. The equipment, including all ingredients, software and databases (the system) shall be able to identify a wide range of microorganisms, including high pathogenic organisms. Currently Bærum and Drammen hospital are back-up at Maldi Tof, and it is important that it continues.
