The AXES research group at the University of Antwerp will purchase a high-resolution Raman microscope. The diversity of research lines places high demands on the requested infrastructure. Multiple lasers covering the (N)UV (405 nm)-VIS-IR are needed in order to prevent possible fluorescence competing with the Raman scatter signal. In addition to obtaining Raman spectra/images of a variety of sample types, e.g. paint fragment cross-sections, glass fragments and (cell wall structure of) bacteria, with high spatial/energy resolution other information types are required. One of the applications will be the investigation of singlet oxygen generation and the determination of the band gap of e.g. catalysts and semi-conductive pigment powders. Therefore photoluminescence in the (N)UV-VIS-(NIR) is needed. Another application will be the analysis of particulate matter on e.g. leaf surfaces, therefor automated particle analysis is required.
