Mapping marine nature types in Vågan 2

The Norwegian Environment Agency shall complete its instructions for mapping marine nature types in 2025. The instructions shall replace DN-handbook 19 for marine mapping. The Directorate therefore wishes to test present proposals for instructions for relevant administrative nature types that are prioritised for mapping. This is done in order to gain input on how instructions can be improved through suggestions from surveyors and professionals who have not been involved in the development of the instructions. In 2021, an expert group led by NIVA presented proposals for management relevant marine nature types (NIVA report 7672-2021). The nature types that the group considered to have the most knowledge of, and experience from, were tested in the field in 2024. In 2025 the testing shall also include nature types we have little knowledge of in new areas. All nature types from the selection made in 2021 can be mapped in the assignment, but testing means nature types that we would like to have a special focus on.
