The Operational Fire Safety Officer role includes; • Ensuring UCC meets its obligation with regard to provision and maintenance of PFE by directly managing the appointed supply/maintenance contractor. Provide an annual report including certification. • Conduct Annual fire evacuation drills. Provide an annual report. • Provision of training courses for UCC staff and provide comprehensive training records, by management of appointed contractors and by delivering training courses in person in o Use of PFE – (See Appendix 1a hereunder for details) o Chemical Spill (See Appendix 1b hereunder for details) • Assisting in the preparation of fire evacuation schemes and emergency plans. • Advice on the full spectrum of operational and day-to-day fire safety issues in UCC • Planned and ad-hoc Operational Fire Safety audits of UCC buildings • Advice on PEEPs and similar specific safety related programs. • To liaise with Cork City Fire Service regarding access to buildings or on- site inspection or familiarisation attendances. • To Liaise with Cork City Fire Department inspector regarding Annual Inspection of licensed premises buildings within the University. • Keep an accurate report on building Fire Occurrences especially those that had the Fire Service in attendance. • Monitor alarm and brigade incidence rates, investigate cause of fire alarm activation and fire outbreak incidents plus evaluate appropriates of response and detection involved. • Be available, if required, in the event of a fire in a University Building. • Detailed record keeping on all of the above. • Prepare concise operational fire safety report for inclusion in UCC Governing Body annual safety report
