IMDi wants more knowledge about parenting from an integration perspective, including 1) how parents with an immigrant background understand, experience and manage parenthood in Norway, 2) what they need and 3) how the provision of public services (such as kindergarten, school, health care, NAV, child protection, various family offerings etc.) safeguards their needs and can be described as equal services. The knowledge should give the authorities insight into what challenges and needs parents with an immigrant background have, what impact it has on children's integration and participation and how the services are experienced and functioning for families, in order to develop good initiatives and services. New knowledge can help parents and families get more purposeful and accurate guidance and follow-up in accordance with their needs. The knowledge can also provide a basis for policy and initiatives, which contribute to a good integration of families with children.
