Hafslund Celsio has entered into a rent contract for the lighthouse at Aker Hospital. The contract means that Celsio will take over responsibility for the operation, and it is given the opportunity to develop the boiler house. The lighthouse currently consists of an electrode boiler that produces steam, as well as two oil boilers that have been banned from operation. Since the hospital was connected to the district heating network in 2019, the steam boiler has only functioned as a stand-by boiler. Celsio would like to develop the lighthouse so that it can function as a peak load central for the grorud network. The existing boiler shall continue to be operated, but the two discarded oil boilers shall be replaced with two new hot water boilers, 13 and 26W respectively. These shall use bio-oil as fuel and use the existing chimney for their emissions. The oil is stored in tanks that are buried on the north side of the building. The equipment that shall not be used further shall be reorganited in a proper manner. The building must be upgraded in order to ensure reliable operation, including by installing blowout surfaces in the roof. When the project is finished, the lighthouse shall be able to deliver up to 52 MW district heating out to the network, as well as function as stand-by for the emergency doctor surgery, and both the old and new Aker Hospital.
