As part of this project, several key software components, including the data compression libraries ‘zlib-rs’ and ‘zstd-rs’, which are essential for the reliable processing, storage and transmission of data in operating systems, networks and data centres worldwide, are to be systematically and effectively further developed. Specifically, security-critical software components are to be consistently implemented in the programming language ‘Rust’ in several milestones, thereby permanently closing potential memory errors, vulnerabilities and security gaps in terms of the security, reliability and performance of the digital infrastructure.
