Since 2006 Scandinavian nursery research has been mapped, quality assessed and published in the database Nordic Base for Early Childhood Education and Care (NB-ECEC). The work has been important in following developments in the field and for identifying areas with a need for research. Not least, it has given actors in the kindergarten field at all levels an updated basis for making knowledge-based decisions. This applies for both students, personnel in nurse schools, owners and authorities. From previous reports we know that the nursery research field is undergoing major changes and is constantly a field in development. There are also different trends across the Nordic countries that provide interesting analyses for future cooperation as well as within each country. The aim of the assignment that is announced here is to continue the systematic quality assessment and mapping of Nordic research on children aged 0-6 years in kindergarten.
