Request for Information (RFI) - Process Technology for Waste Sorting Facilities

Eidsiva Bioenergi AS and Sesam Ressurs AS are in the process of assessing the construction of two potential new waste treatment facilities located at Trehørningen, Hamar, and Trondheim region, respectively. The two facilities will process both municipal solid waste (MSW) and bulky waste as per the specifications in the Invitation to Request for Information (RFI) document. Due to similarities between the two projects, as well as optimization of the market’s use of resources, Eidsiva Bioenergi and Sesam Ressurs jointly conduct this RFI process. Eidsiva Bioenergi AS is a district heating company based in Innlandet county, located in the southeastern inland of Norway. The company is part of the Eidsiva Group, which also owns Elvia, Norway’s largest power grid company. Eidsiva Bioenergi owns and operates several bio-based district heating plants across the region. Additionally, the company owns and operates the Trehørningen waste-to-energy plant, situated close to Hamar, approximately 140 kilometers north of Oslo. Since its commission in 2011, the Trehørningen facility has processed approximately 80,000 tons of waste annually, sourced from both local inter-municipal companies and private waste management operators. Eidsiva Bioenergi is dedicated to significantly contributing to the green transition and reducing carbon emissions by implementing sustainable practices throughout its operations and value chains. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) for process technology for a new waste sorting facility is anticipated to be issued in fall 2025, or at the latest, in the first half of spring 2026. Sesam Ressurs AS is located in Central Norway and is owned by 7 public waste management companies in the region, in total representing 53 municipalities and approximately 600 000 inhabitants. Sesam plans to establish a mixed waste sorting facility to sort mixed plastic, magnetic, and non-magnetic metals from the residual waste, and potentially other materials which may be sent to material recycling. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) for process technology for a new waste sorting facility for Sesam is anticipated to be issued in 2026/2027.
