Transport services "BLT Trams for Lviv"

The transport of second-hand trams, donated by the Baselland Transport Company (BLT), from Oberwil, Canton Baselland, Switzerland to Lviv, Ukraine is part of a cooperation between SECO and the City of Lviv. In the framework of the project “Trams for Ukraine Phase III”, 20 to 25 double articulated trams of the type “Schindler, Be 4/8” and 4 to 10 articulated trams of the type “Schindler Be 4/6” will be donated to the City of Lviv. The trams can either be carried by truck or by rail, up to the choice of the Bidder. Together with the trams, a certain quantity of spare-parts will be transported to Lviv, some of those inside the trams. The majority of the equipment and spare parts will probably be separately loaded in one or two containers with a length of 40 feet. The schedule for the transport of the trams is tied to the delivery of the new trams “Stadler TINA” to the Baselland Transport Company (BLT). After de-commissioning by BLT, the Schindler trams must almost immediately be taken from the BLT depot and workshop at Grenzweg 1 in 4104 Oberwil, Canton Baselland, Switzerland (about ten kms from the Highway in Basel) and are to be transported to Lviv Tramdepot, 185, Horodotska Street, City of Lviv/Ukraine. There is no rail connection in Oberwil, The first transport of trams (four to six vehicles) is foreseen for mid-January to mid-February 2025, the rest until spring 2026.
