Gjemnes municipality is situated at Nordmøre, and borders, among other things, the municipalities of Molde and Kristiansund. Gjemnes has 2,700 inhabitants (per 31.12.23). The municipality has many villages, but only one health institution located in the municipal centre Batnfjordsøra. E39 goes through the municipal centre. The projection of the population development shows that the municipality will have a population that has its current population in line with other district municipalities in the coming years. In the municipal centre and close to the site of the new nursing home, there is a school, library, hairdresser, shops and bus stop with departures to both Molde and Kristiansund once an hour. It may be necessary to build for other public purposes on the site, but there are no concrete plans/decisions. It is stated wish that the footprint of the new health centre is as small as possible, so that the top soil can be kept. The nursing home shall be able to be used by all inhabitants in the municipality, i.e. persons of all the above mentioned signs and with different functional levels. There can be persons who need a long term place, rehabilitation, shorter treatment, visit their loved ones or who are employed.
