Upgrading Siemens MAGNETOM Terra 7T
Description du marché
NTNU currently owns a MAGNETOM 7T Terra MR system that was installed in 2019 (final take-over 29.sept 2020). The MR system has a so-called "dual-mode", which means that the system can be run in two different modes: one-channel transmit (1TX) or 8-channel parallel transmit (pTX). The 1TX mode is CE marked as medical-technical equipment and the MR pictures taken under this mode are certified for diagnostic use. pTX modus is currently only approved for research use. 1TX mode has some challenges around what is called B1+ inhomogencies, which means that the image quality varies in different places in the image, for example there are often "shadows" in the cerebellum. These technical challenges can be avoided when using pTX mode and are decisive for the 7T MR to have a broader use in diagnostics. The main objective of this procurement is to upgrade NTNU ́s MAGNETOM 7T Terra from the current "dual-mode" system to a fully CE-marked 7T MR system, in which both 1TX and pTX functionality are certified for diagnostic use. In more detail the procurement must include the following: • Alteration of the RF transmit chain from dual-mode to a fully CE marked 8-channel RF system. • Fully CE marked 8TX-32RX head coil certified for clinical use. • Alterations of coil switches on patient tables adapted to an 8-channel transmit system. • Continued support to use all the existing 1TX coils. • Software upgrading including image acceleration techniques that use KI based reconstruction. • New computers for faster image reconstruction. • New and improved SAR monitoring. It is a prerequisite that the delivery and completed installation can be carried out within 18 months from the contract date.
