Vatnsfell water-diversion canal - Cofferdam construction, dewatering and removal of accumulated sediments
Description du marché
Landsvirkjun plans to remove accumulated sediments from Vatnsfell water-diversion canal located in the highlands of Iceland, with works commencing early March 2025. The canal is approximately 1900 meters in length, with a bottom width of 6 meters, excavated partly in rock and partly in loose material. Approximately 40.000 cubic meters of sand and gravel accumulated in the canal be removed using conventional excavation methods hauled to spoil area 2km away. A temporary earthfill dam will be erected at the upstream end of the canal to enable dewatering the canal, approximately 65 meters long at the crest and 10 meters wide at the base and 13 meters heigh, with a total fill volume of approximately 11,200 cubic meters. Further, eroding material on the left bank of the canal will be removed, and the area stabilized by levelled rock-fill. The construction schedule is constrained to approximately two months, with no more than one month permitted in dewatered canal. No concrete work is part of this project.
