"Fossumdalen stage 5-6 - Ledningstrasé" is part of a larger water and sewage project in Trondheim municipality that has run, and shall run, over several stages. The aim is to reduce the amount of overflow supplied to The River Nidelva from the sewage network by establishing a separated main stem for W&S from the sewage zone Lerkendal where surface water is led to the River Nidelva, and waste water is fed by a self-fall to Høvringen treatment facility. In "Fossumdalen stage 5-6, Ledningstrasé", the existing overflow (OP04) shall be established in "Fossumdalen stage 4" connects to the Høvringen sewage tunnel via a diving pipeline under the River Nidelva with a flushing magazine.
